What if I'm not pleased with the sound of what I bought?

For two weeks after the reception of a rack, if you are not satisfied with the sound you can return it to us and after the it has been inspected and is found to be in the same condition as it was when it left our hands, we will reimburse your money minus shipping. Sorry, but we can only reimburse shipping for defective units.

What if something breaks?

We offer a one-year guarantee on our rack components (racks, connectors, power supply units, newly added switches, etc). If thse rack components fail through the course of normal studio use within a year, we'll repair or replace them free of charge. The actual vintage modules themselves are guaranteed for six months unless specifically stated otherwise. We prefer to perform a complete overhaul of the modules, which will often include replacing the electrolytic capacitors, which is usually recommended. We do not normally immediately recap modules because we realize there are certain "purists" who prefer to have items in a condition as close to original as possible. That said, if a used module is older than 15-20 years, we recommend changing the electrolytic capacitors. In most cases, we will not guarantee modules for longer than one month unless we perform an overhaul. In the case of a damaged module later down the road, we reserve the right to replace a module or rack instead of repairing it at our discretion. If an item is damaged by being dropped, falling over, liquid spilling on it, by a person or object striking or unreasonably bumping it, by plugging it into the incorrect power voltage or into improperly conditioned power sources, or by an act of god, the warranty shall thereby be immediately voided. Sorry, but we cannot reimburse shipping for items returned from outside of the United States.

Please realize that we are dealing with vintage gear. Often a certain kind of pot or switch may be prone to corrosion or noise when engaged. Most often it does not affect the performance or tone at all, but is just a reminder that this gear has aged and accordingly may have some "joints" that don't work as smoothly as they used to. I'm sure many of you out there can relate to that! This is however simply the nature of dealing with vintage gear. Please keep that in mind when purchasing a piece of equipment that is 15 years old or older. However, we do NOT send out items that are not tested and fully functional when they leave our hands.

Custom racking and repairing of your units:

All custom rack jobs for modules that are not purchased from us require you to send the units to us to be racked. We make exceptions to this rule only when we have modules in stock that exactly match the model of your units. This way we have the opportunity to try out the units in the rack in order to fully insure that the rack has no structural, electronic, or sonic flaws. Also, if we don't already have them, we will need you to send schematics with the units. If it comes down to it, we will attempt to hunt down schematics for a fee of $50US/hr. We will repair your units to be racked, but prefer not to troubleshoot. So if you know what needs to be replaced, then we'd be happy to replace it and then build a rack for it. We are NOT interested in being a repair service, however we will attempt to fix unknown defects on modules that you want us to custom rack for a fee starting at $50/hr. We prefer to recap most vintage modules (replace the electrolytic capacitors), and this is most often included in the original price quote.
